Shop and orders

What an order's state means

Your orders live under “Your orders” on the shop page. Each one carries one of these words.

  • Waiting for you. You are not verified yet. Verify with Hack Club Auth and the order goes in on its own; your stars are reserved meanwhile. It waits thirty days.
  • Placed. The order is in and the stars are spent. Orders do not go out in the order they came in: a parcel within the country is three clicks, a grant is an email, a parcel across a border is neither, so there is no queue position to show.
  • Preparing. Someone is packing it up or setting it up.
  • On hold. The team is holding it and the line under the word says why. Nothing is lost; it goes back to Placed when the hold is lifted.
  • Shipped. On its way, with the carrier and the tracking link when there is one. A parcel crossing a border may be stopped for customs.
  • Grant sent. The grant went to the email shown, with its expiry if it has one.
  • Done. Anything that needed no parcel and no grant: a special, a credit.
  • Cancelled. By you or by the team, and you have been refunded. If someone on the team wrote you a reason, it is there.
  • Expired. It waited thirty days for verification, so it was refunded.
  • Grant returned. A grant that was cancelled after it was sent; what was unspent went back to the program. The stars are not refunded.

Cancelling

You can cancel an order yourself while it is waiting for you, placed or on hold. The stars are back in your balance at once. Once something has shipped or a grant has been sent, cancelling is a conversation: ask in the help channel.

Addresses

The address on an order is a copy of the one you picked from your Hack Club Auth profile at checkout, so change it there before you order, not after. The copy is dropped thirty days after the order is settled.
